I developed a good relationship with the local grocery store
manager in the area where I taught. He used to provide me with class
sets of weekly advertising specials. He also enjoyed giving my
students a tour of his store and he had the employees in the store
tell the students exactly what they were responsible for.
I taught my students about coupons, comparison shopping, unit
pricing, sales tax, how to read food labels, freshness codes,
advertising and placement of items on the shelves.
